My friend Paul-philip, Sylvie and I went on a spring hike through Salamonie River State Forest this afternoon. We took the "Three falls" trail and didn't see or meet a single other person the entire time. I bet most of Huntington county or the surrounding areas have no clue it even exists, which is a shame because it's so beautiful right now (not to mention muddy).
Since my parents leave for Florida every year around Easter, my mom insisted that Sylvie have her easter egg hunt early. We filled large eggs with chunks of hot dogs, pieces of cheese, and some of the smelliest treats we could find. Then we hid them in the yard for her to find. She was actually a lot faster at finding them this year compared to last--we even made them a lot more difficult too.
The squirrels around here are insane! They crawl under the trucks, eat through the wires, and have been chewing on my parents log home! Is this normal squirrel behavior? Maybe it's a sign of spring fever?
Every morning Sylvie likes to take a stroll around the property. She chases deer from time to time, but her favorite by far are the squirrels. She'll eye them out of the window, and just whine and pace until we open the door so she can charge them.
She also enjoys herding all of the chipmonks into the woodpile in the back yard.
Sylvie, my mom, and I went to the lake this morning to make sure nothing had floated away. Sylvie decided to take advantage of the opportunity so she went for her first real swim of the season.
